Obituary Information In the obituary of Isaac's son, Lyman G. Lathrop, his own words , as quoted in the obituary: "In the Fall of 1818 father sold out and started on his journey to IN, moved by wagons to Olian Po int, on the Alleghany river, 300 miles above Pittsburg. There h e purchased a small family boat for $35, into which we embarked , ten in number, Nov. 26th, and started down the river. The weat her being cold, our boat was frozen in sixteen miles above Marie tta. * * * In the latter part of January, 1819, the ice brok e, the channel run clear, we launched the boat which we had prev iously gotten out of the water, and came to Cincinnati, which wa s then a small town. We came to Madison and landed here the 11t h of February, 1819, and rented a log house of John McIntyre. Th e house stood on the north side of Main street, East of Jefferson."
