was born October 14, 1847 in McLennan County Texas, and died July
29, 1929 in Glenn Cove or Talpa, Texas. He married Austa
Tennessee "Osta
T" Ellington
15 Oct 1873 in Bosque County, Texas, daughter of William
Ellington and Martha Long and the granddaughter of
Chief Chulio Shoeboot and Clarinda Ellington. Austa was born November
09, 1854 in Bell,Texas, and died September 02, 1930 in Glenn Cove
or Talpa, Texas. Christine Storey (source): John was Masonic,
and Confederate Soldier during Civil War. Informant was J.A. Gray
for death certificate of John L. Richardson. Both John and Austa are
buried in the Talpa Cemetery, Coleman County, Texas. John's
parents were
Abraham Richardson and Phebe Hart
- Grandson
Whit (Leon P.) Whittington said that John L. Richardson was a
Texas Ranger and they chased a group of Indians from the Del Rio
River to Oklahmoa when John was a young man.
- Whit also
stated that John had two brothers in Bosque County Texas. They
were named "Times Richardson" who married and has at
least one daughter and "Minor Richardson" who was single.
(Minor may be Mereda Richardson whom lived next door to John and
Austa in Bosque County -- see census below)
Still looking for Times.
- Whit said
that one of John and Austa's sons was called "Howard"
and he spent about twenty years in the Army. Whitt said he visited
with Howard at Ft. Bliss Texas while he too was in the Army in
the 1940s.
- Whitt said
that two of the sons left Coleman County and they were not heard
from again. They never knew where they went.
