Research Pages From the Virginia Genealogist: After the Revolutionary War the treaty of 1783 provided a means for English Merchants to collect outstanding debts acquired in America before the Revolutionary War. We feel like this is the best clue we have to date of identifying our David Anderson's father.(Our David died in 1781, his wife's name was Judith ___?__) We believe our David is the one who does not attach Jr. to his name. Also See: Hanover Deeds Reel 2, Part 2, Pages 543 - 550 (On this site) for William Anderson and Company information. I've read in the 1800's the "Anderson Bible" was sent from Louisa/Hanover CO, VA to England to identify William Anderson (merchant of London who did business and had a estate in Hanover CO) heirs in America. I also read the Bible was never returned to it's rightful family (owners) in America. |
